Blessings in Disguise

I recently had a conversation with a woman who was telling me how blessed her life has been. I asked her, “how has it been blessed”?. She said “I and my family have always had good health, we are very financially comfortable and we are happy.” She went on to say,“ I have not had any challenges in my life, no sorrow, nothing disruptive”. “I feel blessed”!.


It may seem odd to you who are reading this, but I thought to myself, “Wow! What a boring life”. I later reflected on my life and the lives of so many of my friends and clients, who have been challenged in one way or another almost from birth. We may have had victim experiences, but we are not in essence victims. Would we say we have been blessed?


The answer is, Yes!


It is a blessing that all of us have come through the rough times and have learned so much more about ourselves and life. We have gained in wisdom, patience, faith, perseverance, compassion, and understanding.


It is my realization that we are not the personality nor the stories we experienced. The challenges were put before us to “awaken us to who we truly are”.


That we truly are spiritual beings having human experiences. It is not about, being famous, wealthy, or having the “perfect’ life or family. It is about what we do with what has been given.


My dearest friend passed over on the winter solstice 2008. She so eloquently lived through many life struggles and in one of her poorest financial times she gave her last few coins so that someone else might have a better Christmas.


She we able to look beyond the present situation, to know there was something higher and more purposeful going on and to trust her inner guidance. She also had the unique gift of looking past what was evident to many of us, and see who that person really was under the experience.


The greatest gift she gave me in her last hours on earth, Is that I witnessed her as she stripped away all that I had know about her, she showed me her soul, and the greatest gift that had ever been given to me, she showed me my soul.


Since her death I have different eyes, I can more easily see beyond what is being presented. I am less quick to judge, but instead, I ask to see experiences or people in a different light.


If she were here today would she want a different life, I think she would say “not so much”.


I see the blessing and gift in all my life experiences, and I can look back and see how interesting and exciting my life has been. All the blessing in the disguise of challenge. So to have a perfect life, is that really my goal, or is seeing my life perfectly my goal? You bet it is!

My Christmas E-Mail

I have a list of people I know, all logged in my computer,
And now at Christmas time I have gone to take a look.

And that is when I realize that these names are a part,
Not of the computer they're stored in, but of my heart.
For each name stands for someone who has crossed my path sometime,
And in that meeting they've become the rhythm in each rhyme.
And while it sounds fantastic for me to make this claim,
I feel that I'm composed of each remembered name.

And while you may not be aware of any special link,
Just meeting you has changed my life, a lot more than you think!
For once I have met somebody, the years cannot erase,
The memory of a pleasant word (or E-mail) or of a friendly face.
So never think my Christmas E-mails are just a mere routine,
Of names upon an address list, forgotten in between.

For when I do a Christmas E-mail that is addressed to you,
It's because you're on the list of people I'm indebted to.
And whether I have known you for many years or few,
In some way you have been a part of shaping things I do.
And now that Christmas has come, I realize anew,
The best gift life can offer is meeting people like you.

A Shamans Journey

A personal story

A Shaman is defined primarily as a healer and a spiritual counselor. Deeply connected with life, she is more than her calling as a Shaman, she Is the calling. From early childhood she had a very pressing urge to learn about shamanism. This is a most reliable mark of a shamanic calling, especially if she didn’t realize the motive of it.

The Shamanic calling may be revealed by the following marks dating back to birth or early childhood:

1.As a child, she was a loner? People considered her eccentric or "different".


2.From early childhood she saw glimpses of the future while going to unknown places, déjà vu.


3.Spirits and those on the other side have contacted her in someway



4.Animals appeared to her as messengers.


5. She had near death experiences. Underwent symbolic deaths in areas of material belongings, marriage, social standing, vocation, and anything else that might link that person with their old life.

  1. Aside from the physical near-death and the dismantlement of her old life, she underwent severe illness. A common theme with these tests is that the shaman must face illness and tests that are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual in nature.

  1. There is usually very little mundane assistance for her, and part of the test as a shaman is having to figure it out, and call upon the appropriate assistance from the spirit world.


8. One commonality in surviving a shamanic test is that it will involve assistance from the spirit realms. As a shaman she will call upon her teachers and protectors from the spirit realms to cure the illness, or find the answer to her test. Often this a major step for her to learn, is which allies works with her from the spirit world. As a shaman she cannot do this work without a team of allies in the spirit realm. These allies might be personal guides attached to her, ascended masters,totem animals, elements, plant spirits, angelic realms, “other world beings,” and many others of which the average individual is unaware.


9. The shamanic path is not to be taken lightly. It is not willingly chosen in traditional society, and instead the path chooses the individual.


Immersed in her spiritual path she uses energy work, dreams, journeys, shifting, soul retrieval, and deeply engrained intuition to assist others to heal their spirit. She connects with the Creator/Great Spirit/God as the source from which all healing takes place.

The prayer of my heart.“ God, awaken me to who I really am”, had been heard and answered. Little did I know, at least at the conscious level that going to Hawaii, would be the time and place to be seen and acknowledged as a Shaman. A “Secret” I held close to my heart all my life. The Shamanic Journey has been my life and I share it with love.

My Messenger the Crow


Crow guides the magic of healing and the change in consciousness that will bring about a new reality and dispel disease or illness.


The day of my departure for a month long stay in Honolulu Hawaii, I heard a persistent ruckus outside my house. It continued and did not let up, so I pulled myself away from my last minute packing to see what was making this noise.


To my surprise and delight a large Maple tree in my yard was filled with hundreds of black crows, I knew this was a message of some kind for me as this large of occurrence had never happened to my knowledge on the property or in my life. Once I had acknowledge that the Crows had come for me, they quickly took flight and emptied the tree of their presence.


I came back in the house and searched for the possible meaning of this event. It seems that when Crow shows up in one’s life it is an omen of change. WOW! It must be a big one! A time to step back from the usual way of viewing reality and look into the inner realms. A time to let go of old thinking and embrace a new way of viewing oneself and the world. The Crow signals that that one has transcended mortal law, and to permit one’s higher self to become you leader.


Crow asks us to be willing to walk our talk, speak our truth, and know our life’s mission, balancing past, present, and future in the now. We are invited to Shape-shift that old reality and become our future self. This message could not have been any truer for me.


For a long time a prayer of my heart has been, “God, awaken me to who I truly am”. I never dream-pt that this prayer would be answered in Hawaii. My reason for this trip was to spend time with a friend, bask in the sun and swim in the ocean, a true vacation. The universe had another reason.


I had the great honor to attend the Unity Church of Hawaii, where my friend was doing her ministerial internship. Through her I met many wonderful people deeply dedicated to walking their spiritual path. I was invited to attend an endeavor group whose focus was on support, encouragement and spiritual growth amongst the staff members.


That night I was asked to share my spiritual journey up to present time. It was never my intention to share with them a secret I had held close to my heart all of my life.


As I spoke my body started to tremble, my mouth felt dry, and tears began to gather in my eyes only to over flow down my cheeks. I heard my self sharing this secret, and as I looked around the room, all I could see was disbelief and judgement. What had I done. I sat in silence the rest of the meeting as others who were new to the circle told of their journey. At the end of the meeting I quickly left the seeking to find a place to breath and sooth myself. What must my friend think of me, to share something so very deeply personal to total strangers, her new pier group.


The next day to my surprise I was invited to speak on Intuition, at one of Unity’s classes. After the presentation, a woman asked me If I would come to Maui to do healing work on her friend. She paid for my flight and my services. This would be one of many opportunities over the next few weeks to serve, from my heart, more authentically than ever before. Being in Hawaii had a profound healing on and for me that answered the prayer of my heart. I am radically changed and I am deeply grateful for all those who touched my life.

Nine Nine Nine


Represent the three divine manifestations in the three plans: world of the spirit, world of the soul, world of the matter, which gives a triple manifestations of Trinity (3 x 3) on September 9, 2009

This is a Time to Awaken to Who we truly are.


Whenever we see a calendar date of repeated numbers we can count on it marking a time of importance. Number nine is the number of completion, attainment and realization of the cycle of energy that flows from one to nine. All that has been experienced is integrated. As the old cycle dies a new one is born again. Nine closes the cycle by returning its love and compassion to higher ideals.


Nine represents change, invention and growth which springs forth from inspiration. Nine has traditionally held esoteric significance which is evidenced by the fact that it takes nine calendar months to bring a baby into the world from its initial conception.

So, think of 9 in your life as a time when things are about to change, and they surely are about to change. Be willing to let go of the outworn and those no longer useful elements of your life. Create a powerful intention on this day and those to follow to energetically heal all that is not of love in your life .


Number nine is also associated with the ALL or One. We live in a sea of vibrations, everything and everyone is frequency. We are becoming aware of our true power to influence the quantum field with our words, emotions and intentions. This truth is especially powerful when we join together as a conscious collective with one common goal and one focused intention for global change. Lets join together on this day to manifest health, prosperity, universal love and peace.


Footnote: People with a Life Path of 9 are more profoundly connected to this period. They are the humanitarians who are deeply concerned about the state of the world and are selfless in their service to help others.

Do You Value Yourself?

As an Intuitive Life Consultant I see many clients, and lately perhaps triggered by the economic situation, clients report feeling devalued and question their worth. For sure these are trying, uncertain times, and I know from professional and personal experience that life situations are compounded by our past. Often times we are not aware of conscious or unconscious messages of childhood that are in our psyches that project and radiate limiting and negative beliefs about ourselves.

I invite my clients to turn inward way from focus on how the rest of the world perceives them, or what is happening in the world, but to begin practicing self awareness. As they practice observing themselves with a greater level of self-honesty, they become more aware of what their fears and judgments are that cause them to panic and that hold them back from their desired goal, and to feel safe in this world.

We all have insecurities, but we do not have to struggle with them. By becoming fully aware of them, we can learn to deal with them differently and without struggle.

If we measure our value by those we perceive above us and then feel bad about ourselves then we need to question our level of self value. If we think our level of self-value is high and feel superior to others, what have we gained. True self-value, is honoring the uniqueness in ourselves and others.

Questions to ponder:

How do you really perceive yourself? What are the actual thoughts you think about yourself, especially around others? How do you label yourself?

Do you find it easier to fill the roles your family and friends expect of you, rather than becoming who you really want to be.

What fears do you have when you interact with other people? Do you want them to see you in a certain way?

Are you looking for acceptance, recognition, love, value, attention, or security?

Does your belief about yourself get you more of what you want, need and deserve?

Or is it leading you toward or keeping you in circumstances that you don't want?


Do you take time to listen to your inner voice and really get to know yourself?


Identifying these factors along with the effects that they have had on your life will allow you to deal with them in the here and now. By doing this you will be able to take your power back, and begin to awaken to who you truly are.

Judging

A friend read my blog “ Imperfection” and said , “ it is impossible not to judge.” He felt that this message may make some feel guilty because they don’t live up to those standards of perfection and or wont agree with what was written.


It has never been my purpose to set out to cause another to feel guilty. How people react or respond to what I write can be revealing and healing for them. Either way, if people like the message and find it useful or if they don’t like the message and don’t fine it useful, it offers an opportunity to heal.


I write what I write because I am guided to do so and the ideas flow through me. I write because it is my passion to express myself. It has been my honor to be a messenger for so many people through my blog, web site, writing my book, public speaking or as a consultant. When I speak or write it is healing for me and hopefully for another.



Now, lets take a look at judgement. On one level, it is the ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions.


We all appreciate beauty in different ways. We like certain careers, cars, houses, clothes. places to live or visit, and certain people. Consciously and unconsciously we are drawn to these. Because there is so much to take in and choose from and we can’t take all of it in, although some try, we are selective of, again, consciously or unconsciously, what most fits the path we are on, and what will help us to accomplish what we have come to do. Therefore judgement in this sense is good.


Yet, on another level, sometimes it appears we had an error in judgement. That person, place or thing was not what we had perceived it to be. Then in the future we may reserve judgement until we gather more information.


If you are like me and love people, you probably delight as I do in watching and observing people. In airports, parks, or gatherings, wherever. When I do, I learn so much, for it is as though they are all on a stage acting out some ritual or message for me. Sometimes they reflect my mood, or help to change it. Sometimes I feel too much energy and leave to regroup within myself. Other times they pass by me to quickly to register and imprint a message, other times I notice a posture, a smile, a particular outfit or characteristic. At times I observe them as though they were in slow motion. I see their energy pushing, grabbing, clinging, repulsing, rushing all in an effort to come and go to their destiny, When I am able to slow down ,get calmer inside myself I hear the sounds of these comings and goings like swarming bees. Observation can be great fun.


But, what if in my observation I saw an action from one person that appears harmful to another. Then I may make a judgement that this is “wrong”, and I may intervene or call for help. That moment I came to some conclusion, had an opinion and acted upon it. In those times I believe these to have been good judgement calls. Like anyone else I can miss the mark, read the cue incorrectly and what I thought I observed was not so.


As an Intuitive Life Consultant, I act as a messenger for my clients. I share with them what I am perceiving. In a way I am judging what I am receiving. Not so much as “good” or “bad”, but pointing out something the client may have missed or has not been ready to see, or was totally unaware of. In my judgement or interpretation there have been times when I may have missed the “real” meaning that came through me. I then have miss judged. This is another example of judgement.


Finally, it is the sitting in judgment, assuming the right to judge someone, esp. in a critical manner. To pass judgement, as a way to feel better about oneself, to put one down. Where judging cn be useful is where we are willing to be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem, that is what I was addressing in the blog “Imperfection”


The prayer of my heart is, “God, awaken me to who I really am” and help me to see that in another. I want to be aware when I am judging someone or something. I want to ask myself, how does this serve me, what is this about for me, what is this judging telling me? When I can be honest with myself. A healing and release through this awareness opens doors for new thinking and understanding.

Imperfection



Something or someone is faulty, blemished, undesirable, or incomplete


When we judge another by what we define as imperfect we are really judging ourselves, for the world is a mirror to us showing us our fears, insecurities, and what we judge as imperfect. Broadcasting negative thought patterns to another seems innocent, but we all know thought creates. So, whether we speak it out loud or not, there is power in what is in our mind and heart. I believe this is what is meant in the Bible when it is written, “judge not unless you be judged.” For when we judge the other we in turn have judged ourselves. Judgment weakens the energy field in the other and for ourselves. When the energy field is weakened we loose spiritual power. Power to create, manifest and to heal.



i.e., If every time you were near a person who was diagnosed with cancer and you go into fear around them, or make a judgement that this is bad, or they will die, you project this onto the other and weaken their system, but you also carry this fear into your cells. Fear attracts fear.


In her public access TV special “ Everyday Grace”, Marrianne Williamson says, “that when we judge we prevent miracles from happening in our lives”. With cancer or any other disease there is always a miracle waiting to happen.


When we orchestrated our life before we came to earth many of us chose lives of challenge, sacrifice, or to fulfill a karmic agreement . A life that looks imperfect to us may indeed be perfect. That life is exactly what the soul wanted to experience. Marrianne Williamson also says, “we judge what we are ignorant of.”


Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we all want to move toward what attracts us and brings pleasure. But we are far to often ready to judge a book by its cover, in doing so we miss the real Pearl inside. i.e., Susan Boyle and Kari Callin. Wow!


Our greatest contribution to each other is to look beyond, the physical and circumstances and go deeper within to find the perfection.


Michelangelo the Italian Renaissance sculptor, would chip away a massive slab of marble patiently waiting for the image inside to be born. He did not force it to be what he wanted it to be, but allowed what was within to come forth into expression.


When we see the beauty in others they begin to see it in themselves, and then they blossom before our eyes. Maya Angelo, said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."


When we see those who are challenged, who have so little, and live a life of alcoholism, bless them. What courageous souls to have made these choices. Some people may say they are losers, cast outs and throw away’. How do we really know that, what if they are really wise old souls who have come to teach us humility, and compassion.


We have chosen to be here on earth and to live this life, in that, I believe we should always strive to create the best we can, to be all we can be, and never give up. There may be times when we are at a cross roads , feel stuck, confused, hit bottom, feel faulty, blemished, undesirable, or incomplete, then is the time to surrender. In this place of surrender which I call grace.


When we are in this place of Grace, Divine assistance is given to us for our (rebirth) starting anew. In this place all is in a state of perfection. Out of this so called imperfection and suffering miraculous healing and awakening unfold.

Life A Sweet Mystery




Addendum to my blog “ Our World is Orchestrated by Us”


And so you ask, If I orchestrated my life before birth where does free will come in now that I am here? Or is my life fated? Is my destiny set in stone? I believe that the following tools are all present in our reality. It is not one or the other but all.


First, we used free will when we orchestrated this life. The fact we forgot doing so does not make it any less true. Before birth, in the present moment and every moment since birth we have used free will, for we chose how we look at ( perceive/judge), and respond, to everything in life.It is our choice to make the decision/distinction that something is good or bad.


As Thoreau put it, so many chose to live a life of 'quiet desperation”, rather than live life to the fullest. We can make the choice to fit in and go along, or to walk to the beat of our own drum. It is our choice to question our lives and everything in it and then, contemplate, meditate and go within. Socrates said, "The unquestioned life is not worth living." The Question then is, God what would you have me know?

Second, our destiny is defined as an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future. I refer to the astrology chart that shows us what we have planned for this lifetime, it will show what houses will be affected by the major planets as they move through these houses over our lifetime. They will tell us how long there impact will last, and how they will express themselves.


i.e.; Pluto moved into the sign of Capricorn in 2009 and will leave Capricorn in 2024. Now in all honesty, there are as many interpretations of Pluto in Capricorn as their are astrologers predicting. This is just one astrologers point of view. Pluto is associated with transformation, Capricorn is associated with the earth, governments and leaders. Both Pluto and Capricorn are symbols of power and control. Its journey through this sign is likely therefore to set some world-changing events in motion.On a more personal note, Pluto can point to areas in your chart where you can achieve personal growth and transformation.



Third, Karma then is the effects of a person's actions/choices that determine his/her destiny in the next minute and next incarnation.


Fourth, we have heard so much over the last several years that we create our reality. Certainly we did before birth, but also daily, hourly, through thought, fears, actions, and choices. Because we no longer remember what we created for our life experiences, it is always wise to reach for the highest thought. “When you begin to understand Law of Attraction, and you understand that which is like unto itself is drawn, then it is easier and easier to understand that you are offering a signal, and the entire Universe responds. And when you finally get that, and you begin to exercise some deliberate control about the signal that you offer, then it really begins to be fun, because then you recognize that nothing happens outside of your creative control. There are no things that happen by chance or by circumstance. There is nothing that is happening because of something you vibrated a long time ago or in a past life. It is not about what you were born into. It is only about what you are, right now, in this red hot fresh moment emitting.

This physical reality however, would often have you believe otherwise. When you believe that your fate is in the hands of people and things that are beyond your control, you lose that fundamental power given to you: the power to create. You make it that much easier for others to manipulate and change your world into what they want, instead of changing your world into what you want. Remember! You have a right to create your own world minute by minute just as you did before birth. You have seen and heard of so many lives where people came out of poverty or near death, or an incurable disease because of faith, trust, and a positive outlook. We may never be rich or famous, but we can be flamous, ( light of the world) and spiritually prosperous.


Go within, listen to your Intuition and trust your process. Honoring the path you have chosen. Be like the alchemist and transform your life of base metals into Gold.

Our Life is Orchestrated by Us


As an Intuitive Life Consultant, I work with people on a daily basis who come to me when they are in pain and confused. They question why their life is not working, what they are doing “wrong”, what is their life purpose, why do bad things happen to good people, and why certain people come into their lives. Feeling punished, they seek my guidance.


In our search for meaning we define our selves by our body, personality and life experiences. It is my journey to assist others to realize that they are so much more than their body and life experiences, for in truth, they are light beings.


Using my intuitive inner guidance I act as a messenger to help them understand why their life has unfolded as it has, with my life experiences,and understanding I help them see their life differently and direct them to a deeper place within them where truth and their life purpose is know. It is for all these highly evolved beings that I have had the honor of serving, that I write this.


Before birth and our entrance on the earth plane we sat, so to speak with a counsel of twelve non-human beings who helped us design our specific contract, goal, life challenges, and purpose for this life time. Those experiences which would facilitate our spiritual growth. The more intense or challenged the life, the more accelerated the spiritual growth.


When Jesus walked the earth he chose 12 disciples or disciplines, at first these were symbolic of the 12 tribes of Israel, and later as symbolic references to the 12 signs of the zodiac. These 12 signs and houses represent the very areas of focus that our counsel orchestrated for us to be experienced in this lifetime.


Our astrology chart then, is a representation or blueprint of our life’s journey. In choosing this path we contracted with other souls, who would show up in this lifetime to help us fulfill this contract. Sometimes their role is to act as support for us, other times to be an adversary.


I believe it is a great honor to be here on earth at this time because we are on the threshold of a remarkable planetary awakening. Some might say, not so, look at the poverty, brutality and disrespect we see of humanity and nature, all across the globe.


I recognize that we live in an idealized world, one that defines success, and beauty by outrageous standards. For those who do not fit in these illusionary definitions, often feel victimized, depressed and a failure.


It is my faith and trust in the process that I am able to see the good. Yes, often times good goes unreported and is over shadowed by the daily news, but it is ours to see beyond this and ask, How does this that appears adverse serve?


My own life journey has taught me to look beyond what seems real, to go deeper within for my answers. This was never so apparent as when I did a walk-a-bout for one year in Australia. Leaving the United States with only a $150 in my pocket, not knowing at the time why I was guided to go across the globe, and, not knowing anyone there, I moved forward in radical trust on this soulful journey.


It was on this journey that my life purpose became clear, and that those who entered it where here for various reasons. In Australia I spent time with an aboriginal elder named Annie. As we sat under a tree on a hot summer day , she asked me,in broken english,Why you here?


I told her I did not know. She threw her head back and laughed. I sung you here. Aboriginal songlines may be understood as ley lines which resonate to a special psychic or mystical energy.


Annie had a vision and saw a white woman coming toward her. In those many hours and weeks I spent with her much of my life came into clarity. It is with this clarity I help others. For those of you who might like to read more of this adventure, I wrote about it in my book, “ Memories of a Mystic”.

So often, when something "bad" happens, it may appear to be meaningless suffering. I believe that most of our difficult life experiences are actually rich with hidden purpose-purpose that we planned before we were born. All of our life's circumstances, relationships, and events were orchestrated by us.

Some people are here on earth for karmic balance, some to serve, others to have victim experiences, others life threatening diseases, experience the loss of a loved one, and accidents. Other challenges, being the parent of a handicapped child, deafness, blindness, drug addiction, and alcoholism.

I hear my clients stories and witness their courage, and struggle to understand. So many have opened with compassion to their life journey and trust that they as a soul created their life blueprint, that the people in their lives, including parents and children, are there at their request, motivated by their love for them to play roles that they scripted.

Much of my life I have been searching, looking out side myself, trying to make sense of my own personal life challenges. I have found solace, appreciation of, and gratitude for my life as a soul-expanding, evolutionary process.

I embrace this truth that I created this reality I live. This is validated for me each time I have contact with those on the other side, and because it makes the most sense.

The World Health Organization (WHO) after changing the definition to fit current conditions, declared a "Level 6" pandemic in mid-June, 2009. The CDC and WHO are now predicting that the H1N1 "Swine Flu" will be back this fall in a new and deadly form.

They also say that a new vaccine will be ready for deployment at the very time when the H1N1 Pandemic virus circulates around the globe and are proposing universal (mandatory) vaccination, starting with our most vulnerable: the very young and the very old. At the July 9, 2009 "flu summit," the President stated: "We want to make sure that we are not promoting panic... the most important thing ...is to make sure that state and local officials prepare now to implement a vaccination program in the fall..."

The United States Emergency Medical Powers Acts and Federal legislation, including the Patriot Acts I, II and III, BARDA and others provide for mandatory vaccination or drugging. No exemptions (religious or otherwise) are provided. Those who refuse will be classified as felons at the State level, subject to immediate incarceration and quarantine of indefinite length in jails or other facilities reserved for such "vaccine refusers." In a frightening "Big Lie" propaganda move, those who doubt the effectiveness of unproven, uninsurable vaccines are being called " Vaccine Resisters" and being equated to a new form of "terrorism."

Those who refuse at the Federal level will be subject to immediate incarceration and quarantine of indefinite length, probably in FEMA camps set up across the US.

That means that untested, potentially lethal vaccines and dangerous drugs like Tamiflu could be forced upon people who do not wish them and who would face incarceration or worse if they choose not to accept them. The CDC has said that there would be no exemptions and that there would be "a certain amount of human wastage". Instead, we demand the right to Self-Shield in our own homes!

The uninsurable vaccines produced for the bioengineered Swine Flu Pandemic will not have been tested in any meaningful way by the time they are delivered into our bodies and those of our children in the fall of 2009, if the World Health Organization and CDC are to be believed.

Exciting Healthcare Update



With your support, your phone calls, your emails, we won a major legislative victory today for a state single payer health care option in the House of Representatives in Washington, DC. The House Education and Labor Committee approved the Kucinich Amendment by a vote of 27-19, with 14 Democrats and 13 Republicans voting yes. 

The amendment propels the growing single payer health care movement at the state level. There are at least ten states which have active single payer efforts in their legislatures. They are California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Washington. The amendment mandates a single payer state will receive the right to waive the application of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), which has in the past been used to nullify efforts to expand state or local government health care.

Under the Kucinich Amendment a state's application for a waiver from ERISA is granted automatically if the state has signed into law a single payer plan. With the amendment, for the first time, the state single payer health care option is shielded from an ERISA-based legal attack. Now that the underlying bill has been passed, as amended, by the full committee, we must make sure that Congress knows that we want the provision kept in the bill at final passage! 

The state single payer option was one of five major amendments which I obtained support to get included in HR3200. One amendment brings into standard coverage for the first time complementary and alternative medicine, (integrative medicine). Another amendment drives down the cost of prescription drugs by ending pharmaceutical industry's sharp practices manipulating physician prescribing habits. An amendment stops the insurance industry from increasing premiums at the time when people are not permitted to change health plans; and finally an amendment imposing a requirement on insurance companies that they disclose the cost of advertising, marketing and executive compensation expenses (which generally divert money from patient care).

The End Of The World As We Know It

Today a woman came to my door and handed me a flyer and invited me to attend an annual congregational event held at the Tacoma Dome convention center in Washington State. The headline on the flyer read, “How Can You Survive The End Of the World.”

This topic seemed so odd to me that I decide to write something in rebuttal about it. If the world were to end, that would mean no one would survive. So, why focus on this possibility? What could any of us possibly do about it? So perhaps what they were presenting is the idea of an after life, or that someone or something will come to save them, in any case the flyer continued and said “ Keep in Expectation, and, A State of Watchfulness.”

Life is very precious to me and I am so grateful to be alive. What an amazing planet we live on. I can’t fathom that I would spend any part of my day thinking about or preparing for the end to come. It seems we are all going to leave this planet, and only the Source knows the day and hour. To my knowledge we cannot escape this.

I think it normal and healthy to question life, too ask, Who am I?, Where did I come from? and Where will I go when I leave this planet? Although I do not know with any certainty where I will go, the vision I choose to embrace is comforting. In this comfort, I hold a space of faith and trust.

I am not of the mindset that the world is going to end any time soon. There are many who refer to the Mayan calendar prediction that on December 21, 2012 the world will end, or, Biblical passages in Revelations of the signs of the end times. For sure the world is presenting some of these, in catastrophic events, unrest growing daily around the world, the threat of terrorism mounts, bad news increases, while good news is increasingly scarce.

The Bible also foretells a time of world peace, happiness, abundance and universal prosperity. Many may think there is no hope for this world—but there is! Wonderful good news lies beyond today’s bad news.

The dictionary definition of revelation is: “The act of revealing or disclosing; something revealed, especially a dramatic disclosure of something not previously known or realized.”

I do see these mass changes happening all over the world as a sign that the world is in the midst of a profound awakening. In my lifetime I have seen amazing progress on all fronts. What we once believed to be truth no longer is true. In its place a new understanding has unfolded.

We are letting go of all the old ways of being, either willingly or not, and, in all transformation the process can look very chaotic and disturbing. The old expression, “out of the ashes rises the phoenix”, holds true for the time were are living in. First, that which no longer serves crumbles and falls away and in its place something new is born.

If only a small percentage of us hold a vision of world peace, happiness, abundance and universal prosperity, like it says in the Bible, If we have the faith of a grain of a mustard seed, amazing things can happen.  I believe we are seeing amazing things happening. Today through television, most of the world has access to Oprah Winfrey, Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra, Gregg Braden, Bruce Bueno de Mesquitahis, and so many more who inform and invite us to see the world and ourselves differently. They remind us of who we truly are, teach us that we can, and do create our realities, and in this knowledge tell us that no one has any power over us unless we give it to them. Because we get to choose what we believe, we then live and die by our beliefs.

I believe we are connected to the Source, perhaps as some say we are holographic images of this Source which I call God. In the Bible it is said, “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” However this is interpreted I believe we all have access to this Source, and at the soul level we are all equal.  We may have each chosen different human circumstance and lives that do not look equal, and so it makes it difficult to know this truth. In spite of this we are fortunate to be living in a time when we have so much more information that is opening, freeing and forgiving.

Our world can look complex and is always presenting us with opportunities of growth and to see life differently, to change our mind and in the process free our selves from our past history. The World is always in flux and the threat of the end times has presented itself over and over in human history. Each time the world did end and a new phase unfolded. What if, just what if, this is really what is happening?
