" Memoirs of a Mystic"
Excerpt from my book " Memoirs of a Mystic"
The Quest Begins
Full of anxiety and anticipation I boarded a 747 headed for Australia for what would turn out to be the adventure of my life. I slowly made my way down the aisle looking for my seat. As I moved deeper into the womb of the cabin, I had the sensation I was somehow going back in time in readiness for a re-birth. I suddenly had a slightly claustrophobic feeling, I found my seat in the back, sat down and quickly opened the overhead air vent, hoping this feeling would soon pass.
While waiting for the other passengers to board, I closed my eyes and tried slowing down my breathing to minimize my stress. Over and over, like a mantra in my head, I kept repeating, "You can do this! You will be safe!" The source of my feelings of near panic was simple. I was now face to face with the exceptionally tall order I’d given myself. Following psychic promptings and for no other reason, and despite a desperate fear of flying, I was about to take off for a place I’d never seen, traveling 8,193 air miles with no plan of what to do when I got there and no money to tide me over till I got one. I decided to trust the universe and the first test.
In this strange place between fright and brief interludes of relaxation, I felt something hit my ankle. I unfastened my seat belt, turned on the overhead light, and bent over to find resting on the floor at my feet a small amber-colored rock the size of a halfdollar bearing the word "COURAGE" in gold letters. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Was the dim light playing tricks with my eyes? I got up to look around and discovered I was the only passenger in this back section at that point. The stone appeared not to have rolled along the floor but had fallen from the left. It seemed improbable it had flown that far from the forward cabin where others were bording or even from behind or overhead.
I decided it was meant for me and trying to reason how it had arrived and what it might mean, I remembered reading about people going on a vision quest as part of their search for greater understanding and meaning in their lives.

Galactic Butterfly
Many of my clients have asked about the meaning of the symbol at my web site called “Galactic Butterfly” and represents, “Consciousness of ALL that has ever existed in this galaxy.” we would call this ALL, God. Infinite intelligence, Universe
Jose Arguelles brought it to our attention in 1987. He gained notoriety for his role in the Harmonic Convergence event, and his mystical book about the Maya calendar, The Mayan Factor: Path Beyond Technology. This book first popularized the Hunab Ku symbol or Galactic Butterfly.

Hummingbird
A few days ago through intuition I heard the call of the Hummingbird “We are coming, prepare for us your nectar.” I put out my yearly feeder and within minutes there they were. I delight in their radiant colors and size. The hummingbird reminds me to laugh and look for the joy in life and about being present in the moment. I am in awe of these tiny creatures, and appreciate the magic of being alive.
These tiniest of all birds are the only creature that can stop dead while traveling at full speed. It can hover, or can go forward, backward, up or down. It lives on nectar and searches for the sweetness of life. Its long tongue lets it bypass the often tough and bitter outer layer to find the hidden treasures underneath. The Hummingbird is loved by the flowers and plants, for as it sucks the nectar from the flower, the plant reproduces and more of its kind are created. Hummingbird must fly free in search of beauty, spreading joy and love to all it touches.
Before s(he) leaves the hummingbird tells us don't waste time looking back and wishing for "what was" but focus on making the most of "what is". We are reminded to look for the hidden treasures in our own lives and to spread our joy.

Tarot ~ Journey Of The Soul
In these challenging times it is more important than ever to go within and listen to our own intuition. Tarot can offer a useful approach to inner guidance. Each archetype of the Tarot takes us on a journey of the Soul.
The Tarot deck is divided into two main parts. The Minor Arcana consists of 56 cards-four “suits” just like regular playing cards. These suits are labeled differently in many decks, but are usually Wands (fire, passion & creativity), Swords (air, intellect & communication), Cups (water, emotion &relationships, intuition) and Pentacles (earth, money & the physical realm).
The Major Arcana ( Latin for “secret ”) is composed of 22 cards that represent symbolic communication, elements in the physical universe, and the experiences we encounter on our spiritual journeys.
This month the focus is on Aries (March 21 to April 19), “The Emperor” a member of the Tarot’s Major Arcana, representative of worldly power and achievement...at the expense of individuality and creativity. The Emperor illustrates qualities of leadership, strength, energy and assertive power. This is a card of conservative and old world traditions where individualism and revolutionary ideas will not be tolerated. Nonetheless, the Emperor is symbolic of a definite commitment to building something worthwhile for society as a whole. It represents the male archetype and, as such, signifies efficient codes of behavior, with focus on purpose and establishment of territory.

I just need to talk, won't somebody listen?
The other day I tuned into Dr Phil Mc Graw, the focus on the show was to provide a wake-up call experience to two young boys who were already in trouble with the law ( DUI’s & Theft (alcohol related )
Most of the show took place in San Quentin prison where several inmates were showing these two young men and the world what prison is really like.
The one area that stuck out for me is when I heard repeatedly that they (inmates) had never had anyone to talk to when they were feeling confused, or upset as young men. They had no healthy mentors to look up to and to guide them.
For so many, old generational patterns just keep getting lived out over and over.It seems that we are only as sick as our secrets. Those areas of shock, pain, abandonment, betrayal and abuse to name a few that have not been dealt with.
The prisons in the US are full to overflow and we keep building more prisons. More than ever the youth need to talk and most of all be heard.
Does the world at large also need someone to talk to and to listen? Is that why computers, blogs, on line groups are so popular? Even with all of these technologies, are we really being heard? Are we really telling our “truth” healing our secrets?
Studies show that young children are not learning and developing interaction skills based on- and in -real time. They are living in a non reality, a virtual reality. hours and hours a day via computers, cell phone, ipods, etc.
Bruce Lipton author of ” Biology of Belief “ says conscious parenting, starts with awareness of ourselves. We must ask ourselves what happened in our lives (the sub conscious programs you got from childhood). These automatic behaviors are acquired from parent to parent generation to generation and must be healed.
We need to shift the belief that we are victims of circumstances beyond our control. If you tell a child it’s average and that’s the program, the child cannot exceed average because the brain will say, ‘this doesn’t make sense’. So no matter how hard that child tries it will unconsciously creates average.
So, how do we help the world heal, to create a place to talk and be heard, to educate, and feel supported?
The media, and all its off shoots. How about television teaching us useful information like, if we want to change our world we must change our mind. New Biology states that our minds control our genes, which creates experience, which creates society.

And what is goodness?
51 times goodness is used in the King James Version.
Old and New Testament, references of Goodness generally
talks about the goodness of God. The idea is that God freely gives mankind good things.
Three New Testament passages talk about the goodness of man: Romans 15:14, Galatians 5:22, and Ephesians 5:9.
The latter two say that goodness is a fruit of the Spirit. That is, when we have the Spirit of God, the word of God, in us then goodness is one of the things that will automatically grow in us.
Have you ever experienced God’s goodness on a grand scale.I have when I did my year long trek in Australia -My book “Memoirs of a Mystic”
Have you ever met someone where there is something extra special about the quality of goodness in them?
To those who have this quality, you can tell that it is operating deep down inside of them. They are good down to the very core of their personalities. You can see it and feel it when you get around them
As a result of seeing this God-like goodness deeply ingrained into their personalities, there is an immediate drawing towards them. You feel safe around them because you know you can totally trust them and you know they would never deliberately hurt you.
Children are quick to sense and pick up this quality in people who really have it. These types draw children and adults to them like magnets.
In other words, a truly good person could not even begin to try and use you or manipulate you for his/her own personal gain because he/she is too good to even begin to think along those lines. This is why these kinds of people are so trustworthy, and why so many people are drawn to them - because you feel so safe by just being around them.
We are the only creatures on earth that have the ability to look back over experiences and draw conclusions. We have the ability to sit in a chair when we are old and gray and full of sleep and say, "That was good."
Goodness is like an investment for the future: our own and the future of those we love. Every act of goodness, every act of kindness has an unrealized consequence waiting for us, or for those we surround with goodness.
Each day we are confronted with a choice: to choose goodness or to choose what is not good. Each time we make a decision, small or large, to choose good, we build a home, or a school or a book or a symphony in our lives that can be read in the future, that can be lived in, that can be heard when we are nearly incapable of hearing any longer.
We choose to be good because we believe we are building something: a home, a relationship, a path to heaven.
Without goodness, we do not have a photo album in our hearts to look back upon with joy.
Oh, when we grow old there is sadness for our lost beauty and vigor, sadness for the death of those we loved. But there is also that delight in that sense of longing for that day at the lake when we were in love and the loons laughed their silly laugh and all summer stretched out before us in eternity.
In our old age we have the ability to look back with gratitude, to look back to all that was good and holy in our lives and say, "Amen," or "poor me," or "Well that was a life."
We choose goodness because we know that grief cupped in joy and stillness is the reward at the end of a long day or a long life.
